 For basic customizations of SharePoint applications to the corporate design, it is often necessary to customize global files such as the master page, for example. However, changes to global files are critical since they can be overwritten by patches or service packs. The http module solves this problem. When a page is called up, the module detects which is the underlying master page for it and, if it is a global master page, bypasses directly to the customized master page. The global master page therefore remains unchanged, but the required customizations appear on the display. Updates and patches can therefore no longer negatively affect SharePoint applications that have been customized to the corporate design.
