Campana & Schott Helps the German Heart Foundation Build AI Capabilities

Through a pro bono initiative, Campana & Schott helped the German Heart Foundation bring artificial intelligence into day-to-day work in a focused and responsible way. Hands-on enablement centered on Microsoft 365 Copilot equipped employees to identify and realize practical value. The result was stronger adoption, greater confidence, and lasting progress in the organization’s use of AI.

Campana & Schott supported the German Heart Foundation in advancing the use of artificial intelligence in everyday work through a targeted pro bono initiative. A structured enablement program equipped employees to use Microsoft 365 Copilot effectively and identify opportunities independently. This not only increased acceptance of AI, but also strengthened the organization’s ability to make effective use of emerging technologies.

From Potential to Practice: Making AI Useful in Everyday Work

The German Heart Foundation had already recognized the potential value of AI technologies. Employees had gained initial experience with ChatGPT, and Copilot licenses were available, but they saw little use. At the same time, the limited number of licenses meant that most employees had no direct access.

Broader adoption required clearer guidance. Which tasks are suited to AI? How should sensitive information be protected? And how can employees see tangible value while using AI responsibly? The priority was therefore to establish a structured approach that combined practical use cases with security, data protection, and a clear understanding of business value.

A Structured Enablement Approach Designed for Lasting Impact

In response, Campana & Schott developed a tailored enablement program. Interactive sessions introduced employees to Microsoft 365 Copilot through practical examples and made its benefits tangible.

The program began with an AI Readiness Check conducted jointly with IT. This clarified the technical prerequisites, addressed data protection considerations, and established a sound foundation for using AI.

Campana & Schott also provided support on specific topics, including policies, configurations, and best practices.

An additional component was an AI agent workshop, where participants explored the potential of AI agents and developed their own use cases.

People Enablement, Not Just Tool Training

The program deliberately went beyond teaching employees how to use a tool. Its purpose was to help them understand AI, identify opportunities in their own work, redesign processes around their needs, and apply the technology where it adds genuine value.

Together, the teams analyzed processes and developed concrete use cases. This created a shared understanding of when AI can make a meaningful contribution. Step by step, AI is becoming an established part of selected workflows.

Practical Use Cases with Direct Value

One particularly relevant use case emerged in communications. Employees at the German Heart Foundation regularly interact with patients and their families, often in emotionally challenging situations.

The enablement program demonstrated how AI can support employees in drafting empathetic responses and reflecting on difficult interactions. This close connection to real work made the benefits immediately clear.

Tangible Results and Organizational Change

Feedback on the enablement program was consistently positive. Employees quickly developed an understanding of Copilot’s capabilities and expressed strong interest in broader adoption.

One key outcome was the decision to offer full Copilot licenses to all interested employees in response to growing demand and the value demonstrated during the program.

A Lasting Contribution to the Foundation’s Mission

The pro bono initiative did more than build short-term knowledge. It laid the groundwork for the sustainable use of AI.

Employees can now use Copilot and other AI tools in a focused way and independently identify new applications. This is an important step toward advancing the German Heart Foundation’s mission more effectively.
