From Pilot to Value Creation: Scaling GenAI—New Expert Article

How can organizations turn widespread GenAI adoption into measurable business value? Many organizations have successfully taken their first steps with GenAI. However, only a few have managed to move from isolated use cases to scalable solutions that deliver impact across the enterprise.

This is precisely where the expert article, “From Pilot to Value Creation: How Organizations Can Scale GenAI Today,” (only available in German) recently published on the IT platform BigData-Insider, comes in. Drawing on insights from the German Social Collaboration Study 2026, Boris Ovcak, Managing Partner and Head of the Transformation of Work division at Campana & Schott, explains why the key bottleneck is often not the technology itself, but the organization’s ability to scale it effectively. For the study, Campana & Schott and the Technical University of Darmstadt surveyed more than 200 business leaders on the state of GenAI adoption and transformation.

GenAI has become part of everyday work. However, its use is still largely focused on generic tasks such as content creation, research, and translation. According to the study, fewer than 15% of organizations are applying the technology within function-specific processes, where the greatest potential for value creation exists.

There is also significant room for improvement when it comes to strategy and governance. While 95.3% of organizations are actively exploring an AI strategy, only 24.6% have implemented one. Just 6.2% have established a dedicated AI Office outside of IT. As a result, despite widespread adoption, AI often remains stuck in an extended pilot phase.
