State-of-the-art collaboration solution at Webasto

New demand and project management system implemented by Campana & Schott enjoys a high level of acceptance.

Within only six months, Campana & Schott implemented a new demand and project management system for Webasto. The newly developed solution allows more efficient collaboration and gives employees the opportunity to take a more active role. The existing solution of the global, innovative company had ceased to meet the requirements it places on collaboration. In response to this, a state-of-the-art cloud-based solution was created.

As part of a planned migration to SharePoint Online, Webasto had been looking for a solution to replace its previous tool for demand and project management. The goal was to use a cloud-based architecture with a flexible data architecture, modern UI, a high level of integration with existing PM tools, and an internal role and rights model. The initial intention was to rely on an open platform in order to give Webasto and its employees the opportunity to operate and further develop the platform on their own.

The road to success

Campana & Schott supported Webasto in compiling and organizing the technical requirements and designed a solution based on the Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power BI and Power Automate) in close coordination with the customer. An additional requirement was to make the new solution compatible for use on mobile devices as well. Webasto’s choice of Campana & Schott was based the company’s many years of expertise in this area as well as its holistic approach, which complements its technological viewpoint by additionally adopting a process and organization-based perspective as a sparring partner at eye level.

Thanks to the implementation of a tried-and-tested agile approach to project management, which was also introduced by Campana & Schott, the team was able to roll out a partial solution prior to the deadline. This allowed the better allocation of the go-live work, such as end user training and migration activities, and also enabled users to use the partial solution early on for the preliminary entry of projects in the form of a demand. It was thereby it possible to initiate projects directly from the go-live date with no significant losses of efficiency upon replacement of the previous tool with the new one.

Why Campana & Schott?

In just six months, Campana & Schott implemented and rolled out two apps. The first one is a “demand app” for collecting ideas from employees. These ideas are evaluated and qualified within the app, after which the selected suggestions are transferred to a second app and created as a project. The project team takes over from there. In addition, Webasto provides automated reporting on all ideas and project phases. Thanks to the CS PPM Power Suite and an additionally developed solution, the team was able to meet the project requirements on time. This was particularly important, as the previous SharePoint solution was to be shut down on the fixed date of December 31, 2021, by which time Webasto employees needed to implement a new solution.

The very harmonious cooperation between Campana & Schott and Webasto played a significant role in the success of the project. In addition to requirements workshops, their cooperation also allowed the implementation of an agile approach. This type of cooperation offered a major advantage in that it allowed short-term customer feedback to be taken into consideration and addressed accordingly.

Conclusion

Webasto now has a flexible and adaptable cutting-edge technology at its disposal that more than satisfies the requirements of the modern working world. Employees are offered a state-of-the-art and highly user-friendly solution with which they can contribute their own ideas and thereby take an active role in shaping their professional environment. Where previously there was a large number of lists to fill in, edit, and sort, the employees now all have access to a transparent, efficient solution that they can personalize to suit their respective working environment.
