Generative AI as part of the digital workplace

Generative AI has reached organizations. But how far have companies really come in integrating it technically and embedding it across the organization? Have they already created the conditions for scaling and value creation — and if not, what still stands in the way? The German Social Collaboration Study 2026 explores these questions.

Since 2015, the German Social Collaboration Study has offered a tool- and vendor-independent comprehensive overview of how digitally connected collaboration is evolving in organizations. It shows how modern technologies influence productivity, how employee collaboration relates to job satisfaction, and what organizations can learn from these findings.

The Department of Information Systems at the Technical University of Darmstadt, led by Prof. Dr. Peter Buxmann, publishes the study in cooperation with Campana & Schott.

The 2026 edition focuses on how organizations use generative AI in everyday work — and why many still struggle to scale GenAI systematically and turn it into measurable value, despite high adoption rates.
