Serverless risk management application in the financial industry

The risk management of a company in the financial industry is carried out through Excel and email notifications. However, the principles of banking supervision prescribe standardized and effective risk reporting and risk data aggregation (BCBS239).


  • Conception and formalization of a data model for risk data from several suppliers and for several types of risk.
  • Design and implementation of a serverless Azure cloud architecture for the direct input of risk data by external users (B2B process), that is the delivery of the data via standard APIs in a common data management system as well as the development of an inspection and approval process.
  • Carrying out statistical risk calculations on R modules and creating reports for risk analysis.
  • Saving IT infrastructure costs through scalable serverless cloud architecture, as high availability and computing power are only required during risk reporting periods at the end of each quarter.
  • Reduction of effort and potential for errors in the manual transfer of the risk data into a standardized format by automating data delivery.
Cloud-based project management solution in a mechanical engineering company

A mechanical engineering company uses an existing On-premise SharePoint solution for the end-to-end handling and controlling of projects. Status queries, meeting minutes, results of quality checks and many other project-relevant data from customers and suppliers are transmitted via phone, email or fax. The information is then transferred to the system manually, since the application is only available within the company's own network and only for internal employees.


  • Conception and implementation of an as-is migration of the project management solution in Microsoft O365 and Azure.
  • Extension of the role and permission system for mobile and guest access to well defined areas for clients and suppliers.
  • Modernization of the solution through standardized cloud components such as Microsoft Teams workspaces to optimize project communication and collaboration, along with a bot to query status reports and project progress data.
  • Use of Microsoft Cognitive Services for the translation of meeting minutes.
  • Migration of project documents from file shares to Teams workspaces.

Replacement of Lotus Notes within a tech group

An investment application based on Lotus Notes must be migrated. The motivation stems from the impending replacement of the entire platform and the lack of mobile capability for the application. The solution has grown historically and is used globally in all business areas of the tech group. It is therefore necessary to migrate a large number of ongoing and completed investment applications and calculations to the new system. In the future, around 1,000 users will be creating between 3,000 and 4,000 applications a year using the new solution.


  • Reengineering and modernization of the application together with the process managers of the client.
  • Development of the new investment application with state-of-the-art Azure components allow-ing scalability.
  • The application is embedded in SharePoint Online as part of the digital workplace of the employees.
  • The application includes the following essential components:
    • Real time business case calculation (NPV, EBIT)
    • Distributed, mobile-capable approval process at various corporate levels with approval via email
    • Encrypted sending of notifications
    • Support for multi-currency, historization, multi-year planning, representative regulations
  • Significantly reduced processing times for applications thanks to mobile and location-independent access as well as newly designed handling processes.
  • Better scalability in times of increased use by leveraging Microsoft Azure.
  • Responsive design for access via tablet, smartphone or PC through innovative front-end technology including React and Office UI Fabric.
  • Increased security level by encrypting documents and notifications.
Migration of SharePoint applications

A new collaboration platform is to be created with Microsoft O365. The previous solution, Microsoft SharePoint 2013, is operated by a service provider and must be replaced as soon as possible. The challenge is to migrate a variety of form and workflow applications (e.g. visitor ID registration, catering request, training registration, and so on) that are operated on-premise to the cloud, using SharePoint workflows when needed.


  • Assessment of applications from the different departments.
  • Categorization of the application in the technology categories PowerPlatform / individual development.
  • Through training and CS BestPractices in the PowerPlatform, client contact persons were able to carry out the necessary customizing independently.
  • Custom development of specific applications based on a standardized CS React template for form and workflow applications as well as Azure components.
  • Introduction of a standardized approval process and technical registers for the creation of new Power Platform applications.
  • Knowledge transfer and development in the Power Platform area for internal client contacts through the CS-guided migration of the applications.
  • Ease of use for end users thanks to integration in the familiar digital workplace (O365).
  • Easy management of the applications by IT on the O365 and Azure platforms.
  • Easy management and improved governance of the business applications thanks to a standardized creation process.
